Gone with the Wind

Gone with the Wind

Both the NI Urban League and NI Colour Series League at the 2022 Tollymore Orienteering Festival on 24-25 June 22 enjoyed sunny skies, but with a strong southerly wind. Fortunately for the events, although perhaps not for the campers at Tollymore, the heavy rains stayed away until night time.

First time planner George Savell certainly made good use of the new Dundrum urban map on Friday, taking courses in and out of churches, housing estates to finish with a dash around the Dundrum Castle after a climb to the top of the hill. Thanks are due to Sacret Heart Church and Primary School, Dundrum Methodist Church and St Donard’s Community Church for access to their grounds.

It was good to have experienced planner Ivan Millar back in the saddle again for a trot around, or depending on route choice over, Castlewellan Forest for tough but challenging courses. Fortunately the finish was by the Castlewellan Lake where some took the opportunity to cool off!

Thanks also to controllers Richard McCourt, Raymond Finlay, organiser Aileen McCarron and weekend coordinator/organiser Gordon Stephens and all on the day helpers.

The results from both events, including Winsplits, Routegadet and Splitsbrowser analysis, are at Results>2022 Results.

The Colour Series League has been updated and is available at Results>NI Colour Series League.
