Northern Ireland Colour Series League

Northern Ireland Colour Series League

The NI Colour Series comprises a number of regional events in the calendar year declared in advance.

Each event has the same range of colour coded courses, also declared in advance and currently Brown, Blue, Green, Short Green, Light Green, Orange, Yellow and White.  In some areas is may not be possible to offer TD1 and TD2 courses.

All participants are free to choose which course to enter at each event.

Points are awarded by colour and gender.

All members of NIOA are automatically awarded points for each colour in the league, except White.

Membership is determined by the presence of an entry in the BOF membership database and is show by the presence of the club abbreviation against the participant’s name in the table.

The winner in each category is awarded 100 points.  Other competitors are awarded points on the basis of (“competitor’s time” / “winner’s time”) x 100.

Non-members are not awarded a score, but if a competitor joins or re-joins part way through the year, then they are retrospectively awarded scores from the start of the year.  The retrospection ceases when membership opens for the following year.

There are a number of situations in which non-calculated scores are assigned:-

  • The members of the event organising team who are unable to run because of their organising duties are awarded their best score of the year in the other events of the Series.
  • If a member is unable to compete on their normal course due to international/inter-regional team representation, then they are awarded their best score of the year in the other events of the Series.
  • If a club championship is held in conjunction with an event and a competitor runs down a colour and wins, they will be awarded 100 points, but their time will not be used to calculate points for the competitors in the lower category.
  • If a member returns points in more than one category during the year then awarded points will assigned to the last category for which they returned a calculated result.

If a runner is deemed to be non-competitive, this should be indicated on the results list as no points will be awarded.

At the conclusion of the year scores from more than 50% of the events are required for a competitive total e.g. if there are 7 events in the year then 4 are required or if 8 events in the year then 5 are required.  If more than the required number of scores are recorded, then the highest requisite number of scores is counted.

The winners of each colour for both men and women are awarded a small prize at the prize giving, normally held after the NI Score Championships in the following year.
