NI Orienteering host events for schools, which are of particular relevance for students studying orienteering as part of their GCSE PE syllabus. The main purpose is to provide a fun competition with a real assessment opportunity for the students, which is approved by CCEA.
Courses – There will be Orange (TD3) courses set at the correct standard for students to display the skills and techniques to gain the highest GCSE scores. There will also be Yellow (TD2) courses for those not ready for assessment such as Y11s gaining experience.
Some of these competitions will be run in parallel with NI Orienteering club competitions and some may be ‘closed’ for schools only.
There are three NI Orienteering Schools competitions/assessments planned for November 2026. The first one is at Gosford Forest Park, on Thursday 5 November 2026, there will be another at University of Ulster Coleraine, on Saturday 21 November 2026 and a third in a Belfast Park, date and venue to be confirmed.
Gosford – Further details for this event can be found here: Schools Invitation. Here is the Entry Form. Please complete and return by Friday 23 October.
UU Coleraine – Further details for this event can be found here: Schools Invitation. Here is the Entry Form. Please complete and return at least one week before the competition.
We have plans to introduce more school competitions/assessments next year, hopefully with one in the Fermanagh/Omagh area.
