It’s a Hat Trick

Possibly for the first time in orienteering history, the Home International Season has concluded with a win of Ireland over Wales at Senior, Veteran and now Junior level.

Competing in East Anglia on 12-13 October, team Ireland juniors beat Wales 71 v 33 points, winning  at both individual (45 v 22) and relay events (26 v 11). Top individual performances were James Ewart 4th and Eoin Simpson 6th in M14, Aiden McKenna 2nd, Liam O’Donnel 5th and Liam Casey 6th in M16, Gerry Browne 5th in M18 and Eve Buckley 5th in W18 with a 5th and 6th place respectively for the men’s and women’s relay teams. Scotland beat England, but only after a tie-breaker of first place finishes.

So the Celtic Cup, Stonewall Trophy and Judith Wingham Trophy will remain on the Emerald Isle until the 2025 season.
