Wilbert Hollinger awarded Colin Henderson Trophy

Wilbert Hollinger was awarded the Colin Henderson Trophy for Services to Northern Ireland Orienteering. Wilbert was not present to receive the trophy at the AGM of NI Orienteering, because as planner of the NI Middle Distance Championships which followed the meeting, he was out in Carneany Forest finalizing controls. Chairman David Blair caught up with Wilbert after the event to make a surprise presentation.

Wilbert, a founding member of orienteering in Northern Ireland has been active at many areas of the sport and currently is the Fixtures Secretary and of course still a very competitive orienteer.

The trophy, fashioned in purple heart wood, was donated in memory of Colin Henderson who died prematurely in 2019 with pancreatic cancer.  Just like Wilbert, Colin was highly involved in the sport for many years and is fondly remembered.
