Solid Performance from the NI Junior Squad

Competing on home territory the NI Junior Orienteering Squad produced steady runs at Tyrella at the Junior Inter Regional Orienteering Championships. With 11 other regions flying in or coming by ferry from the rest of the UK, the Northern Ireland team were against stiff competition. However under the leadership of coach Stephanie Pruzina the team managed to more than double their point score from 40 points last year to 96 ponts. The weekend was not all serious competition with an energetic ceilidh on the Saturday evening, called by the Alistair Scott Ceilidh Band at Shimna Integrated College in Newcastle. Thanks are due to the principal and facilities manager at Shimna for making their excellent campus available at short notice.
