Ireland Retain the Celtic Cup
Susan Lambe writes…
I’m delighted to report that Ireland retained the Celtic Cup (Ireland v Wales sub-competition) in the SHI in the Lakes last weekend 27-28 September 2025. Paul Pruzina is missing from the team photo.
All four nations fielded strong teams this year. After a tight Individual competition on the Saturday, Ireland were in 4th with a 2-point gap to close to Wales. Emphatic relay performances across the board (particularly Clodagh Moran, Emer Perkins & Eve Spurling placing 2nd womens team overall, just 7 seconds behind ENG) meant we finished in a strong 3rd place, 8 points ahead of Wales. My congratulations to all of the team, particularly those with stand-out results. Colm Moran was Team Manager on the weekend – thanks you Colm for balancing all that with strong running too.
The SHI is such a team competition, with everyone having the potential to score points for their nation, and I’m so proud of all of our team. 2026 sees Ireland’s turn to host, and we’re in the classic areas of Meelmore & Tollymore in County Down.
