Donard High Start
Wasn’t it good to be orienteering in a forest! Thanks to the team of planner George Savell, organiser Kieran Rocks and controller Geoffrey Collins for an engaging 2025 NI Score Champs. With a start for seniors 50m higher than the finish the challege was to maintain height were possible and of course pick up as many points as possible and try to get back on time. On the Mens Open Mark Stephens stole a commanding lead with 560 points, but for the women a mere 3 seconds over the hour cost Aine McCann a winning score, allowing Moire O’Sullivan to lead with just 10 more points. However non-NIOA member Megan Cummings did achieve a sligtly higher score! The results are posted at Fixtures & Results>2025 Results.
Unfortunately the Night Championships were not able to be held in Castlewellan after dark, with much of the Forest Park still closed due to storm damage. Hopefully the event can be held at a later date.
