A Pyramid Scheme?
North West Orienteering Club’s NI Colour Series event on 25 August produced one of the largest attendances at a NI Colour Series event in the North West for some time. Perhaps it was the lure of the final control for some courses at the famous pyramid (south-west side)? Or perhaps the attraction of getting back into a remapped forest that is now opening up after recent forest growth? Or that the location wasn’t so far away for those from the Belfast area but hopefully a key factor being that our newer members are appreciating the quality of orienteering on offer at a Colour Series League event with a suitable course for all abilities.
You can view the updated NI Colour Series league table at Results>NI Colour Series Leagues and the results for the event at Results<2018 Results. We have our first winner with Rebecca Linton in the Orange Women class, however the other classes are up for grabs with the Blue men’s league particularly wide open.
The two remaining fixtures for the 2018 NI Colour Series League are at Gortin, Co Tyrone by FermO on 6 October and at Tyrella, Co Down by LVO on 10 November. Make sure these dates are in your diary for Colour Series orienteering where there is a colour-coded course for all abilities. However in between these dates we have the NI Open Orienteering Championships at Pomeroy Forest, Co Tyrone on 13 October hosted by NWOC on a brand new map, with the option of either running an age class course or a colour course with White, Yellow, Orange, Light Green and Green all on offer.
