Whitespots, Blue Skies with Brown Splatters
“Real Orienteering” was how the final Colour Series event of the year was described by one competitor after a tough and slithery run through mud and over bare rock, but also through beautiful beach wood with the leaf fall making the navigations by paths rather difficult in places. There was an excellent turnout of 99 enjoying the beautiful autumnal day after a period of heavy rain.
Regrettably control 152 had been stolen, which was leg 14 on Brown, 9 on Blue and 5 on Green, so the legs to and from that control have been voided and removed from the results to be published shortly. The Results including Routegadget, Splitsbrowser and Winsplits are at Results>2023 Results.
Thanks to the officials Planner Mark Stephens, Organiser Ann Savage and Controller Stephen Gilmore, and on the day helpers particularly Alan Brett at Download and as always the backroom team of Alan Gartside printing maps and Sharon Dickenson and Mark Pruzina running SI Entries.
Now that the 2023 NI Colour Series has been completed the final League Table has been compiled, thanks to Alan Gartside. Congratulations to all winners. A small prize will be awarded at the Prizegiving on 17 February 2024 after the NI Score Championships at St Columb’s Park.
The dates and venues for the almost all the 2024 Colour Series and Championship events are already on the Fixture List. Do note these in your diary.
