Getting Events Running

Now that restrictions on sporting activities have been relaxed, orienteering events with a maximum of 100 are now permitted, subject of course to covid protocols which include social distancing, hand hygiene and members only events with pre-entry.

The month of May sees the return of club activities with NWOC starting with a club only event on 1 May and LVO’s WEE Series open to any British Orienteering member from 5 May. Meanwhile FermO’s FOOT Series using MapRun6 is going strong and watch out for a similar initiative in the North West launching soon!

There have been some changes to provisional dates for Northern Ireland regional events with these now scheduled to recommence on 29 May with the 2021 NI Score Championships at Parkanaur, Co Tyrone. Then a fortnight later we are off to Crossmurrin, Co Fermanagh for NI Series 2 and then to a south Down venue a further 2 weeks later for NI Series 3. NI Series 1 at Drum Manor will be held back until later in the year when the vegetation recedes, with then hopefully a full 6 event NI Colour Series for 2021.

All events should still be regarded as provisional, so please do keep an eye on the Fixture list at Fixtures and Activities>Main Fixture List.

Remember that at this time events are for members only, so if you are not a 2021 member then please join or rejoin here before entering any event.
