Get Back on Track

In the build up to competitive orienteering a number of maps and courses are now available using the innovative MapRunF app. Simply download the MapRunF app onto your phone, print off a map and off you go! All the details are at Maps>DIY Orienteering using MapRunF.

📝There are numerous score courses to tick off across NI across all club areas, open for the entire month of July. Do as many courses as you wish, when it suits you! How many course can you do?

🥇🥈🥉If you can complete 3 courses or more, your best 3 positions in each course will be counted, so if you do 4 courses and come 1st, 3rd and 7th and 10th your score will be 1+3+7= 11.

🏆Since we are treating it as an informal ‘competition’ here are 2 simple rules:

  1. Don’t look at the map before you start (no sneaky peaks after printing the map off yourself)!
  2. Once started, use your map to navigate not your phone (the beauty of MapRun is once you start it goes in your pocket and doesn’t need to come out until after the finish!)

👮‍♂️Obviously the rules can’t and won’t be policed, so we are relying on good sportsman/womenship 😊

😀Have fun and let us know how you get on!

🔭Look out for things to come – we plan to continue a MapRunF league in August running alongside some ‘normal’ orienteering weekend events!

The MapRunF app will be used at some infomal events too, so look out for those.
