Autumn NI Event Outlook

Lagan Valley Orienteers have already held a very successful come-back event and indeed are the first club to post a result on the British Orienteering website since 15 March. The event with the use of SI Air+ throughout reducing the need for touching surfaces and socially distant protocols well respected. LVO are planning further club events possibly at Tollymore on 22 August and NWOC have an urban activity lined up for 5 September so do keep an eye on club websites and the fixture list.

It is anticipated that NI Events will be resuming for the remainder of the year, all using SI Air+, however finalising permissions are challenging.

NI Series 4 is on the fixture list for Portstewart on 29 August. It is most likely that the date will be pushed back into September away from the busy bank holiday weekend and the location may also change.

Permissions are confirmed the the NI Long Distance Championships on 3 October on The Burren on the Co Fermanagh/Cavan border. However being a cross-border event could bring additional challenges with the potential for varying regulations. The Veteran Home International which was to be run alongside NIOC will however not be taking place.

FermO have secured permissions for NI Series 5 on Crossmurrin on 24 October.

The final NI Series event of the year is still scheduled for Tyrella on 7 November, but permissions are still to be confirmed.

With NI Series 2 and 3 cancelled this year, assuming that 4 events can be run, the league will be based on the best 3 out of 4 results.

The Leinster Championship have been rescheduled for 27 September, just across the border at Carnawaddy, Co Louth. All the details are on the LOC2020 website.
