AGM and The Colin Henderson Trophy

Notice is given that the 2021 Annual General Meeting of the Northern Ireland Orienteering Association will take place on Saturday 26 June at 3pm. Weather permitting the venue will be outdoors at Tollymore Forest Park, following the NI Colour Series event. Should the weather be inclement, the meeting will either be postponed or moved to a nearby indoor location, subject to government advice at the time.

The Colin Henderson Trophy for Services to NI Orienteering will be unveiled and presented for the first time at the AGM. This beautiful new trophy has been crafted in memory of Colin Henderson, a competitive orienteer, a talented planner, exacting controller, capable organiser and co-ordinator, encouraging coach and latterly a budding mapper. He served on committees and held the roles of Chairman and Hon Secretary of NIOA. This perpetual trophy will be presented annually, in lieu of the existing Services to NI Orienteering award.

Previously the NIOA committee have selected worthy recipients and will continue to do so, but now wish to also invite nominations from the membership, of individuals who have given themselves to the sport of orienteering in Northern Ireland over an extended period. Nominations with a citation should be forwarded to secretary@niorienteering.org.uk by Friday 11 June. For information, the recipients of the Services to NI Orienteering award in the past decade have been Ivan Millar, Greg McCann, Helen Baxter, Philip Baxter, Charlie Reid, Noel Bogle, Colin Henderson, Richard McCourt and Stephen Gilmore.
