What Happened- An Organiser's Report
Thanks to all for turning out and braving the rain, which started as the first competitors were registering and stopped as the last finishers were downloading - my wife is adamant that Alan Gartside+event organisation makes the rain gods dance every time!
Although the area may have been rather small a review of the splits shows that most folk had problems at some point in their run. The size of the area determined the shortness of the courses and the nature of the terrain determined the peculiar scale of the map - after all I had to find something, however insignificant, to use as control sites. I hope you liked the penultimate control - I did describe it as shallow.
Even at this stage of the series it was great to see some new faces turning up (even including the Baxters!) and thanks to Ann Savage for doing the hostess bit of guiding them through the initial processes.
Particular thanks to Bill Simpson for acting as a very competent registrar and computer guru, including knowing exactly when to kick the printer!
