Final Details From the Organiser:

WELCOME BACK

Peatlands Park near Dungannon is the venue for the fourth and last County Armagh WEE Series 2007 event.

If you would like more information about this interesting Park, where peat has been forming for the past 10,000 years, go to www.forestserviceni.gov.uk or www.ehsni.gov.uk/peatlands

DIRECTIONS TO PEATLANDS PARK

From Belfast/Antrim: coming from the Belfast direction towards Dungannon on the M1, turn off at Junction 13 and follow the brown signs for Peatlands Park.

The multimap link above is very useful!

PARKING

There is ample parking in the main car parking area which is approximately 300m from the main road. Both parking and entry to the park is free.

REGISTRATION

Registration will take place in the open grass land adjacent to the main car parking area: go through the gate at the north-west side of the car park (in case of bad weather(!) look out for a blue and white tent). Registration will start at 6:45pm and starts will be from 7:00pm to 7:30pm. Courses will close at 8:15pm sharp with controls being lifted from this time onwards. Please note: the gates to the car park close at 9pm sharp.

ENTRIES

Entry is £2.50 per person which includes a pre-printed map. Plastic map bags will also be provided, but if you already have one, please do your bit for the environment and re-use it. SportIdent card (dibber) hire is free.

PRE ENTRIES

In order to speed up the registration process, you can send your details to Fiona before Wednesday evening. All you then have to do on the night is collect your map and dibber and head to the start! Alternatively, you can just turn up on the night and complete a registration form then.

COURSE DETAILS

There will be two courses, a short easy one of approximately 1.9km which follows paths and tracks, and a longer one of approximately 4.4km which involves more route choice. Map scale: 1:10000.

Beware: you may encounter nettles on both the Short and Long courses!

There is a miniature railway in the park which both the Short and Long courses cross. However, rest assured the trains will not be operational on Wednesday evening!

On a final note, the Long course crosses an area of wet bog – please stick to the duckboards and do not attempt to cross the bog! Areas marked as ‘rough open land’ are crossable.

TOILETS

Toilets are located approximately 150m from the Start/Finish/Registration areas.

PRIZE GIVING AND BARBEQUE

The prize giving will take place as soon as we can finalise the results! Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Short and Long courses, the highest placed Short and Long course newcomers, and there will also be some spot prizes.

BBQd hot dogs will be available at a cost of 50p. Let’s hope the weather is kinder to us than it has been for the past two weeks!
