Barnett's Park

Event 3 will take place at Barnett's Park which is part of the wider Lagan Valley Regional Park map on Wednesday 17 May.

Just in case you are wondering if WEE Series 3 at Barnetts is on. Yes! The controls were put out on Wed morning before the rain started. Conditions are generally wet and slippery, so O shoes or shoes with a good grip are recommended. The mixture of warm and wet weather over the last week has been good news for the nettles, so full leg cover is also recommended. Registration should be in a tent close adjacent to the carpark. The forecast isn't good, but don't let that put you off! Orienteering in the rain and mud is fun (or at least a challenge.)

WEE Series 3 at Barnetts Demesne, follows on from the Sports Council Youth Games the previous Saturday at the same venue. The long course will include some legs from the Sports Council Youth Games.

Assemble in the car part at Malone House. Course lengths are:
Short 2.1km 55m
Long 3.7km 105m

Barnetts gives a nice mix of park O with a tricky woodland section. The woodland is actually pretty accurately mapped when you walk the area, though it may not look that way at speed! So you might like to consider slowing down when you get to the tricky bits.

Just a reminder that you are required to visit the controls in the correct order and if you do for example find No5 before No4, you need to go back to No4 and then revist No5!
