Event One

Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park

Event 1 will be in Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park on Wednesday 3 May.

The organiser is Declan McGrellis who can be contacted at 028 9068 1097. Give him a ring if you have any questions.

Directions can be obtained from the location on multimap.

Start times from 7 - 8 pm.

Final Details From the Organiser:

The courses have now been planned and the permits arranged. All that's remaining is to round up the equipment and get the maps printed off. So the WEE Series will be able to kick off in earnest on the 3rd May.

The short course is 1.5km, and will be mainly on paths. There will be some off path route choice possible, but nothing too taxing for the brain at the first event.

The long course will be 4.1km and will take you to most corners of the park. This should be a very fast course, and a nice one to ease into the series.

Parking will be at the upper (northern most) car park, and NOT at the stables. Start times will be from 7pm until 8pm, and the courses will close at 9pm sharp. Due to fading light, the controls will be lifted from 9pm onwards, so please turn up in time to complete your course.

It is important that everyone is out of the car park before 9.30pm, since this is the time that the warden will be locking the gates.

Don't forget to invite friends and family along, and challenge them to see who can get the highest scores. Also, why not print off a copy of the registration form to fill out before hand. This will speed up the registration process on the night.

Give me a call if you have any questions, and hopefully we'll see a good turn out on the night.

Update on Tuesday 2nd May:
There are very few brambles in Lady Dixon Park, and as such it is possible to wear shorts when running. Also, in order to promote a more 'environmentally friendly' attitude, the WEE Series is encouraging everyone to re-use any map bags that they have received at previous orienteering events. New map bags will not be issued at the WEE Series events as an experiment in order to reduce the number of plastic bags simply thrown into the bin. If you don't already have a bag, or forget to bring one, a simple polypocket bag will be provided.
Hope to see you all there.
