Help Wanted
Posted on: Friday 12th March 2010 by AlanG
I have planned a tempO (sprint version of trailO) event to run, appropriately enough, alongside the IOC sprintO on Friday 23rd April at Coleraine. A trial run using the sprintO organising team was received very enthusiastically so all is ready except for on-the-day helpers. A minimum of 4 timekeepers/registrars is required to run the competition. It is planned to stage it before the sprintO but in an area which does not compromise anyones sprintO eligibility. I am therefore asking for volunteers to wield stopwatches and pencils for a short period before the sprint races (which start from 19:00) - you will also be able to compete in the tempO event if you feel so inclined.

Entries for the Irish Orienteering Champs are now open at www.niorienteering.org.uk/ioc2010. The JK Sprint team of Igor Stefko, Richard McCourt and Stephen Gilmore have spent the last two days at Coleraine preparing from some cunning Sprint-O on the Friday evening, so don't overlook entering for this event. You won't be disapointed!

Awards for Sport
Posted on: Thursday 4th March 2010 by Gordon Stephens
I am very pleased to announce that LVO have been awarded a significant amount of funding from Awards for Sport to allow the purchase of a trailer to act as an event centre for event administration, organisation and equipment transport. We are very grateful for the support provided against a backdrop of large cut backs in public spending and slashes in budgets. Time is of the essence as the project needs to be completed by end of March 2010. A small working party has been set up to agree the final specification. If you wish to be part of the working party and/or you have some ideas that you would like incorporated into the design or layout please email me on gordon@stephens2000.freeserve.co.uk We are now looking for some ideas for the graphics for the trailer to promote the events, the club, and orienteering as a sport. We may also consider 'selling' advertising space for suitable sponsors. If you have some ideas (please!)for graphics or sponsorship (or anything else related to the trailer) please contact me or any member of the committee.

WEE Series 2010 – Volunteers please ?
Posted on: Tuesday 9th February 2010 by Wilson 07802 940818
Wednesday Evening Events are planned to continue this year with a three part series over three months. That means we need three people to coordinate four events each – in the approximate areas of Co. Antrim, Belfast Parks and M1 Corridor. For each event, we also need a Planner, and (depending on how hands on the coordinator is) an organiser. The WEE Series is designed to be both a way into planning a simple event and also to provide an accessible 'come and try it' format for newcomers. A sign-up sheet will be available at the Hillsborough event or call me on the number above – so please consider putting yourself forward. Guidance from experienced hands is available for all aspects of running the WEE’s.
