Permanent Courses

 

There are a number of permanent course orienteering maps produced by LVO. These maps can normally be purchased from outlets close to the locations involved. Full details are available on the purchasing web page.

Following a review of the Permanent Courses in December 2004, the following notes are recorded:

Cavehill Country Park
  • The posts at sites 1 and 8 are missing.
  • The post at EcoTrail site E5 is missing.
Cairnwood
  • No missing posts.
  • The post at site 4 has been detached and it lies on the west edge of the control circle.
  • The post at site 18 is now on the edge of the felled area and those using the map should be advised the area surrounding it is dangerous.
Clement Wilson Park
  • No missing posts.
Colin Glen Forest Park
  • The post at EcoTrail site E4 is missing.
  • The post at site 6 has not been placed on the correct feature or in the circle. The post is located just off the track, north of the circle.
  • The post at site 10 has not been placed on the correct feature or in the circle. It lies 25m from the southeast of the circle, on the north side of the track.
Carnfunnock Country Park
  • No missing posts.
Barnetts Park
  • No missing posts
  • The post at site 6 lies in a similar shaped, but unmapped re-entrant in the trees.
Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park
  • No missing posts.
Castlewellan Forest
  • (Provisional information for Castlewellan supplied Jan08 - requires onsite confirmation)
  • No 6 is missing.
  • No 7 is damaged but identifiable.
  • No 10 missing due to tree felling
  • No 11 missing due to tree felling
  • No 12 obscured by fallen trees
  • No 18 obscured by fallen trees
Ormeau Park
  • The post at site 15 is missing.
  • The post at EcoTrail site E7 is missing.
  • The fence in the region of site 7 has been removed.
Gosford Forest Park
  • Due to extensive felling, the new permanent course at Gosford has been delayed.
Castleward (survey Nov 07)
  • The post at site 1 is missing.
  • The post at site 10 is on the vegetation change as per the control descriptions, and not the building as shown on the map.
  • The post at site 16 is from a different trail.
  • The post at site 22 is missing.
