Fancy Volunteering to help at an event during the year

With the publication of the Fixture List, now is the time to think about helping out. The key officials - Controllers, Planners & Organisers - need to be in place early, so please get your name down as soon as you can. Go for the smaller events (Spring Cup, WEE series, Autumn Trophy) if you don’t feel you have the experience for the Colour Series, or simply volunteer as a helper - if you’re enjoying the events, then it’s only fair that you share the load.

How do I volunteer? - Put your name on the sheet that is on display at LVO events, or speak to your Group Coordinator or simply send an email to your group ordinator (Ivan) and myself.

Why is LVO organised into Groups? – So that the same people aren’t working at every event. If your group isn’t responsible for an event then you have the day off. Check the fixture list to see which events your group is organising.

What group am I in? – This is determined by where you live. Give Ivan a call to check which group you are in since he is the acting group-ordinator for all groups. You can still volunteer to help at any of the events, no matter which group you belong to though.

Who are the Group Coordinators, and what do they do? – Ivan Millar (9753 3149, ivanmandymillar@aol.com) looks after all 4 groups now. He makes sure that the event officials (Controller, Planner and Organiser) are appointed. It is the Organiser’s responsibility to recruit on-the-day help.

We need a lot of manpower to stage our very full calendar of events, so your help is really needed and appreciated. Please don’t be afraid to come forward just because you haven’t been involved before - you’ll get all the help and guidance that you need.
