Billy Reed Wins the Night Championships – Weekend Photos

Gerry Meehan’s photos from the weekend are here; Philip’s photos from the Night Championships are here.

Crawfordsburn Country Park was the venue last weekend for the first two Championships of the 2015 orienteering season. The Score Championships in the afternoon were followed by the presentation of the NIOA prizes for 2014, a much enjoyed meal provided by the Junior Squad as a fundraiser and the Night Championships once daylight had faded.

The Score Championships were won by Frazer Howe and Olivia Baxter, while Billy Reid stormed round in the Night Championships to win the Men’s Open race and Olivia did the double in the Women’s Open race. The Junior Champions are Rachael Collins and Peter Reed (Score) and Andrew Elwood and Sophie Pruzina (Night). The Veteran honours went to Heather Cairns and Alan Elwood (Score) and Trevor Wilson and Stephanie Pruzina (Night) . The SuperVet titles for the Score went to Fred and Daphne Hamond. Full results are here. Winsplits links will follow shortly.

The next events in the busy calendar are LVO’s Spring Cup 1 on 28th February at Belfast Castle and the first of the NI Colour Series and the Colours of Spring Series hosted by NWOC in Drumnaph Nature Reserve on a brand new map on 7th March. All are welcome at both events, whether or not you are a club member and regardless of whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced racer. There are always courses to suit everyone and help will be on hand to get you started. Details will appear on the calendar as soon as they are available.
