______________________________________________

NI Orienteering invite you to the heart (or the core) of the Orchard County for four days of speed: three days of sprint and urban orienteering in the ancient city of Armagh, following on from one of the fastest 5k / 3k road races around.

In conjunction with the Armagh 5k International Road Race event, NIOA welcomes you along to join a world-class field of top orienteers competing in the twin-cathedral city. NOTE: if you wish to enter the 5km/ 3km races you need to go through the Armagh Road Race organisers (www.armagh5k.com). It would be a good idea to state that you are staying on for the orienteering event.

After the Thursday evening road races (optional-separate organisation), Friday to Sunday will see a night, two sprints and an urban race to test your speed, stamina and concentration to the limit.

Armagh (from Ard Mhacha – the height/hill of Macha) is the renowned city of saints and scholars, built on seven hills (as you’ll soon discover …) in the middle of apple-growing country. You’ll navigate up and down drumlins, through a land where warriors battled in the legendary tales and past where Patrick founded his church; where Chieftains and a High King were laid to rest and Vikings roamed and raided; with Georgian buildings lining the streets, and towers, spires and telescopes pointing to the stars; through woods and parkland, past Celtic crosses, monastic remains and maybe even a solar system (check your map scale for that one!) – the Armagh Sprint Weekend will be epic!

Can you ‘pip’ the big names to be King / Queen of the Orchard? Join us in February to find out!

Information about Armagh Road Race– if you want to enter the Road Race you need to go through their organisers.
